BLOOD DONORS FIGHT CANCER: In 2006, there were 1.4 million new cancer diagnoses made in the US. Nearly all of those newly diagnosed with cancer and receiving chemo or related therapy will need blood or blood products at some point during their treatment. You can join the battle against cancer by donating blood on Friday, September 5 from 12 noon to 5:00 PM at Wal-Mart located at 2518 Hillsboro Blvd in Manchester or from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at Hillsboro Elementary located at 284 Winchester Highway in Hillsboro.

COFFEE COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY DOG DAYS OF SUMMER: Saturday, September 20, 2008, Dog Adoption Day 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Coffee County and Manchester Animal Shelters located at 1210 Oakdale Street in Manchester. Adoption rates are $35, however, if you show proof of spay and or neuter, $25 will be refunded. BRADFORD HEALTH SERVICES: A family support group meets every Monday night at 6 PM at Bradford Health Services 1501 McArthur Street in Manchester. This is free to anyone who is dealing with family members who are abusing drugs or alcohol. This is designed to help family members learn to cope, and how to help that loved one. For parents of adolescents, parents can learn their role in helping their adolescent overcome drug abuse or addiction.
